Rikssalen at Uppsala Slott is administrated by a foundation known as "Rikssalstiftelsen", and use of the premises is subject to a number of articles.

• It is a requirement for hiring Rikssalen that the organiser observes the rules concerning the formal nature and dignified character of the occasion, taking into consideration the special nature of the building, the fittings and the furniture.
  
  
• Rikssalen should in principle be reserved for arrangements with a certain formal nature, that have a certain significance or that rise above everyday concerns. Hiring Rikssalen is primarily suitable for memorials, jubilees, inaugurations, academic ceremonies, major student union meetings, congresses and other national or regional arrangements.
  

This means, for example, that:

• Politics and religion are banned from Rikssalen (although political parties and religious congregations may hire Rikssalen for jubilees or memorials).
  
  
• Rikssalen is not hired out for exhibitions for which an entry fee is charged. It is possible, on the other hand, to hold exhibitions there to which the public has free access.
  
  
• Companies may hire Rikssalen for internal events.
  
  
• Individuals may not hire Rikssalen.

Before being allowed to book Rikssalen, you must apply to the Rikssalstiftelse. A form for this purpose can be obtained from Rikssalen (see the "Contact" page), or when you make a preliminary booking.
